Lara Gordon has been the school counselor at Monte Vista High School for the past nine years. Before that, she was a middle school counselor in Lamar, CO for seven years. Lara got her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Master's degree in Secondary and Secondary-Post School Counseling from UNC in Greeley, Colorado. Because Lara's dad was a LT. Colonel in the Air Force, she has had the opportunity to live in many places. Now, Lara enjoys the small town living and loves all the outdoor activities that the San Luis Valley has to offer. When not at school, Lara spends time with her parents (now in Colorado Springs after her dad had a stroke last year), her fiance Alex, and her son Matt. Lara loves and spoils her three doggies, Dee, Wendy, and Zoe. She absolutely loves cows too! It really makes Lara happy to get to know students and parents on a personal level. Lara likes working with students on a daily basis and wants every student to have a post-secondary plan for after high school. Lara says she loves Monte Vista High School and this is the best school she has ever worked in! As Ms.Gordon always says, "We have great kids at MVHS and we always try to do to what is best for our students." If you ever have any concerns or would like to speak to Ms.Gordon, please call or come in to see her at anytime!
